Have you ever noticed how the enemy likes to mess with your mind?

Fear and anxiety are two ways he keeps us from having the Peace God gives us and from relying on God.

Fear and anxiety can completely overwhelm you and keep you up at night.

Fear, anxiety, worry, and panic attacks are all weapons satan uses against us. But, sometimes, it feels like there is no other way.

It’s like being in a dark room, where you can’t find the door or even a window to open. Satan loves this.

When experiencing these feelings, we often try to hide them from others. That works to a point, but when you have these feelings, your family and close friends usually catch the fallout.

We yell at our kids when we really don’t mean to. We are short with or ignore our husbands and friends.

It doesn’t have to be this way. I’m not trying to give you a pat answer and say that “everything will work out, just have faith” or “don’t worry about what you can’t change.”

Yes, I know people mean well and are trying to help, but honestly, most of the time, it just doesn’t.

I, like most people, have had plenty of experience dealing with fear and anxiety. I know what it’s like to toss and turn at night.

You can’t turn your mind off, and you can’t go to sleep. I yelled at my kids and then cried because I felt like the worst mom on the planet!!

I have found something that helped me tremendously!

I started reading certain verses in the Bible and claiming them as if this is how it is.

I started praising the Lord when I didn’t feel like praising. I felt like crawling under a rock and hiding from the world, to be honest.

Little by little, God gave me Peace.

When the enemy would try to attack, I had an answer other than giving in to fear, anxiety, and worry. So things just didn’t bother me like they used to.

Did my life magically change for the better, and did my circumstances get better?  Some did, and some did not.

But I wasn’t crippled by the fear and anxiety anymore.

My bills weren’t always paid on time, we didn’t automatically have everything we wanted, and I’m still concerned about my kids’ choices.

But I have learned like Paul said in Philippians 4:11, “. . . in whatever situation I am in to be content.”

I have chosen not to let the enemy have control.

Sometimes all I could pray was the name of Jesus. I have learned He is all I need.

A few things I have learned

  1. I must choose to guard my heart and my mind.
  2. I must choose to believe God’s word is true.
  3. I must choose to speak life and truth into my life. You can too!!

You do not have to give in to that fear, anxiety, and worry gripping your heart and mind.

Just because you don’t feel like you have any control over anything doesn’t mean you can’t know the One who does. Therefore, you can choose to trust God.

I want to share these verses with you because they have greatly helped me over the years. I know they can help you too!

Of course, they are all good; seriously, can there be a “bad” verse in the Bible? Lol. I’ll start with my favorite.

Deuteronomy 3:22 “Do not fear them, for the Lord your God is the one fighting for you.”

Yes, I know, right now, you don’t feel strong or courageous. But, well, feelings change and are deceptive. Remember, fear and anxiety are feelings.

Sometimes we have to choose to be strong and courageous even when we don’t feel like it. Do you always feel like you are madly in love with your husband? No.

Sometimes love is a choice, especially when he is working my nerves! But that is for another post, lol.

Who of you, by worrying, can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
