Warrior Women Blog can help you overcome loneliness by learning what the Bible says about loneliness.

Feeling alone can come out of nowhere.

Sometimes it feels like our prayers don’t get above the ceiling.

It is depressing when we feel alone.

However, I am thankful for the lonely dry spells I have been through.

At least now I am.

I am thankful because I learned so much about God’s unfailing love and faithfulness.

Why do we feel Alone?

Feeling alone is one of the worst kinds of hurt and pain there is.

We all long to be connected with someone.  Everyone wants to have friends and know that someone cares about us.

You can be in a crowd and still feel alone if you don’t feel connected to someone.

God made us this way.  He is a God of relationships.  He is the Trinity – three in one.

Early in the Bible, in Genesis chapter 2, God made man and said, “It is not good that man should be alone.” So that’s why He made women. To be a companion for our husbands.

You can’t help it; you were made to be connected to others.

Sometimes we are lonely because we are insecure. An excellent way to overcome this is to realize your worth. Read Feeling like you are not enough.

  Signs of feeling alone

We all feel lonely at times, but feeling disconnected from others for long periods can have serious side effects.

Boredom, depression, feeling excessively tired, or just numb are all symptoms of feeling alone.

It doesn’t matter if you are married or single; you can still feel alone.

It doesn’t matter if you have children or not.  Loneliness can happen to anyone.

Examples of Loneliness in the Bible

The Bible tells us that even God’s people felt alone at times.

David tells us about his loneliness in the book of Psalms.  David cried out to God, “Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.  Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.”

Hagar, an Egyptian slave, was lonely when kicked out of her home with her infant son.

Even Jesus experienced loneliness.  Isaiah 53:3 tells us the prophecy about Jesus and His loneliness.  “He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.”

On the cross, Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark 15:34.

When you feel like you are walking through the valley of loneliness, know that Jesus understands.

Bible verses for when you feel alone

God’s word tells us that the Bible is living and sharper than any two-edged sword.  It is powerful, and His word will not return to Him void.

God has given us His Word to help us through any trials we may face, including feeling alone.

In my seasons of loneliness, I have found that reading just a few verses can make me feel so much better.

Below you will find verses that have helped me in my time of loneliness, and I hope they help you.

Joshua 1:9  “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Even in the “dark night of the soul,” as the song goes, God is with us!

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.”  (I feel like there needs to be an exclamation mark at the end of that verse)

Psalm 27:10 “Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.”

So no matter who walks away from us, even our own mother and father, God is still with us. We are not alone.

And:

My all-time favorite passage of scripture in the Bible!!! I get excited every time I read it!

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Oh my, how my heart sings when I read that passage of scripture.  There is absolutely NOTHING in all of creation that can separate you from God’s love!!

Not your sin, guilt, shame, past mistakes, current mistakes, bad decisions, the ugly thoughts, absolutely NOTHING!!

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you have done, or where you are at in your life.  You are NEVER alone, and NOTHING can separate you from God’s love!!

I want to encourage you, dear friend, when you feel alone to reach out to God!

Reach out to other believers who can lift you up in prayer and be with you when you feel alone.

This last thing may sound crazy, but it does work.

Reach out to others you can help.

When I turn my focus from my own problems and heartache to someone else who is hurting as well, it always helps me.

It gives us a purpose and helps us to connect with others.

Remember, loneliness is a feeling.

The Bible tells us to guard our hearts and our minds.

God compares the devil to a roaring lion roaming about the earth trying to destroy people.

The devil wants nothing more than to destroy you, your marriage, your family, your life.

One way he does this is through those little lies he whispers to us.

One of those lies is that we are alone.  But we have God’s word to fight back against him with.

God has said that nothing can separate you from His love, and He will never leave you.  So you are NEVER alone!

Well done!

  6. So many times we feel that we can’t talk about things like being lonely, thinking that we should be stronger and others might look down us – this isolates us even more. The truth is that everyone struggles in various areas and we need each other. We need to talk and share and help each other.

Pray to God to fill you with his presence and love. I also pray to him to help me always see the good in other people and not the bad. If you put your faith in him and pray for inner peace you will not feel so much as you need other people as his peace will fill you with the holy spirit and this feeling will overpower your feeling of being alone. I will pray for you.
