When you are hurting, you have a place to turn. Learn these 11 Bible verses for when you are hurting.

We have all had things happen that have caused us pain and heartache.

Some people have lost a parent at a younger age.

Maybe it was your spouse unexpectedly leaving or passing away. Some people have lost a child.

All of these are tragic events.

However, not everything is quite as drastic as that, but it still causes pain.

Maybe life just hasn’t turned out quite like you thought it would, and you are disappointed. Read A Fresh Start for encouragement.

You know how it is; we all have that dream in our heads and hearts about how our lives will be when we grow up.

Sometimes life just doesn’t cooperate, and things don’t always go as planned. So what do you do when life gets you down?

When I am hurting, I have found the best thing I can do is just stop and focus.

Focus on what is really important.

I make a list of all the positive things in my life. Then I count my blessings!

That usually helps, but sometimes it isn’t enough.

Sometimes some things just hurt your heart at a level you can’t verbally express.

You know that cry when you can’t even make a sound?

Your heart hurts so bad you are numb and hurt simultaneously?

I know how that is. You can’t eat, you can’t sleep, you can’t think straight.

You don’t care what you look like and don’t want to be around anyone.

Here are a few Bible verses I have found that helped me, and I hope they help you too!

Psalms 147:3. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
Isaiah 40:31 "...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Psalms 55:22 "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved."
Psalms 34:18. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Romans 8:28  "And we know that in all things God works for the good those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose."
Psalm 91:1-2  "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
Psalm 91:4-6 "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, not the arrow that flies by day, not the pestilence that stays in the darkness, not the plague that destroys at midday."
Psalm 91:14-15 "Because he loves me, says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect his, for he acknowledges my name.  He will call on me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him."
Psalm 9:9-10 "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.  Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord have never forsaken those who seek you."
Psalm 118:5 "In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free."

There are many Bible verses to help you when you are hurting.

Remember, Jesus was no stranger to pain Himself, and He is a “friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

He “will never leave you or forsake you”!

So when you are hurting, talk to your friends or family if that helps.

Go for a walk or a drive if you need to.

Whatever you do, make sure you take it to the One who loves you more than anything.

The only One who can heal your broken heart and remove the hurt!
