Mountains with bible verse Deut 31:6 over it

I was saved at the age of 9. I was one of the “good girls” who never got in trouble, sang in the choir at church, and tried to always do what my parents asked.

I went to Union University where I majored in Religion and Social Work. I also have a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling. Little did I know, God was about to begin working in me like never before!

The picture at the top of this page of mountains, valleys, and flowers is a perfect representation of my life. But it’s the Bible verse that I have clung to.

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord, your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

These are my people.

Yes we are pretty laid back at home and I don’t know about you, but it seems almost impossible to get a picture where everyone is looking the same way or smiling.

But that’s ok. You see, I was told I could never have children. God blessed us with five.

But God . . .

God has been so good to me. He has blessed me with more than I deserve.

He has also kept His promise to never leave me or forsake me when I’ve walked down some hard roads.

me and my husband

I remember very clearly the night I got on my knees in my college dorm and asked God to use my life for His glory.

Since that night, my life has never been the same. I’ve faced loss, rejection, heartbreak, and pain I never knew existed. I’ve been mad at God and humbled before Him.

I may not know the exact details of your situation, but I do know about pain. I’ve also learned, it is only when I lean into God and trust Him, that I have any peace.

God has taught me how to give Him my pain, my marriage, my children, and all the things and people I’ve tried to hold close and maintain control.
