Hey, I’m Karen, and it’s nice to meet you! I am just a small-town girl who loves Jesus, reading, and chocolate!

I want to share my heart for God with women who are determined to leave a legacy of faith for their families.

By writing blog posts, prayers, and devotions, my prayer is to help you have a happier marriage, better relationships, and a stronger faith in the God who loves them unconditionally.

I graduated from Union University, where I majored in Religion and Social Work, and have a Master’s degree from Regent University in Christian Counseling.

From my 30 years of experience in Social Work, being involved in ministry through school and my church, to being a Compel Writers Training member I hope to provide you with encouragement as you follow God’s plan for your life.

The picture at the top of this page of mountains, valleys, and flowers is a perfect representation of my life. But it’s the Bible verse that I have clung to.

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord, your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

My family

These are my people.

Yes, we are pretty laid back at home, and I don’t know about you, but it seems almost impossible to get a picture where everyone is looking the same way or smiling.

But that’s ok. You see, I was told I could never have children.

But God . . . He blessed us with five!

God has been so good to me. He has blessed me with more than I deserve.

He has also kept His promise to never leave me or forsake me when I’ve walked down some hard roads.

me and my husband

I remember very clearly the night I got on my knees in my college dorm and asked God to use my life for His glory.

Since that night, my life has never been the same. I’ve faced loss, rejection, heartbreak, and pain I never knew existed. I’ve been mad at God and humbled before Him.

I may not know the exact details of your situation, but I do know God is always faithful to His promises. I have learned it is only when I lean into God and trust Him that I have any peace.

God is helping me give Him my joy and pain, my marriage and children, and all the circumstances and people I’ve tried to hold close and maintain control over. He is teaching me it is much better to let Him be in control.

His ways are always better!
